Following today's ruling by the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg (Case 23/23), EU Commission vs. Republic of Malta regarding Malta's application of derogation from the "Birds" Directive which permitted a citizen science research programme on the seven finch species in 2020, 2021 and 2022, the Federation for Hunting and Conservation - Malta (FKNK) is pleased to note and thanks the Maltese Government, in particular the Honourable Minister Clint Camilleri, for its determination and commitment to continue to defend the legal practices of hunters and trappers in order to adequately address their concerns.
In this case, as always, the FKNK will continue to offer its expertise and resources to the government in order to find a satisfactory solution for a way forward.
