
A little less than a month since vindictive acts of vandalism were carried out by means of arson in the Reserve of the Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta (FKNK) of Aħrax at Mellieħa, in the last hours of the 18th of September, similar acts occurred and fire was ignited simultaneously in four places in the Reserve.
This cowardly act on the Maltese natural environment, took place in the same site known as 'Camping Site C' near l'Aħrax tal-Madonna and led to damage to protected flora and fauna.
Police Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras called a magisterial inquiry and she appointed experts to investigate this case.

The FKNK would like to thank the officers of the Department of Civil Protection, members of the public and many volunteers from the GħKNK Mellieħa Sub-Committee within the FKNK who assisted and ensured that the fires were controlled.
The FKNK asks for the help of the public who may have any information on this case to pass it on to the Police on 2122 4401.
The Federation reiterates that our natural environment is a priceless heritage and therefore every person has the obligation to help to safeguard it.
